Job Description:
Accountant I Position Overview: The Accountant I role is
critical in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and
maintaining the integrity of accounting records. You will provide
full-performance support in delivering all accounting efforts,
ensuring compliance with credit union policies, generally accepted
accounting principles (GAAP), and NCUA rules and regulations. Your
attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to
analyze financial data will be key to success in this role.Key
Responsibilities:Accounting Records & Compliance:Manage accounting
records in accordance with credit union policies, procedures, GAAP,
and NCUA rules and regulations.Assist in the preparation of monthly
financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and timely
submission.Third-Party & Cash Account Analysis:Analyze and maintain
third-party reports, ensuring balances are correct and
reconciliations are complete.Analyze and maintain Credit Union cash
accounts, fixed assets, and prepaids to ensure proper recordkeeping
and reconciliation.Financial Analysis & Reporting:Analyze Credit
Union income and expenditures, recommending accrual entries as
necessary.Perform daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries to
ensure the accuracy of general ledger accounts.Reconcile and
maintain assigned general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies
within 30 days or as directed.NCUA Reporting & Compliance:Assist in
the preparation and submission of the NCUA Call Report (5300
Report), ensuring accuracy and timely filing.General Ledger &
Discrepancy Resolution:Reconcile financial discrepancies by
collecting, analyzing, and noting any discrepancies in account and
general ledger information.Ensure discrepancies are cleared in a
timely manner and maintain a high degree of accuracy.Position
Requirements:Efficiency & Accuracy:Demonstrate a high degree of
accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills, meeting
established quality and quantity standards.Must be detail-oriented
and capable of maintaining organization in a fast-paced
environment.Initiative & Independence:Ability to work independently
with minimal supervision, analyzing data and processes to resolve
issues.Must understand and apply GAAP, FASB, and NCUA regulations,
working through situations and problems with little to no
direction.Technical Proficiency:Proficiency in financial systems,
databases, and related software applications.Strong time
management, multitasking, and organizational skills.Must be able to
use a computer for a minimum of 8 hours per day and sit at a desk
for extended periods.Communication Skills:Strong verbal and written
communication skills.Ability to identify issues and recommend
solutions effectively.Work Requirements:Flexibility to work
extended hours as needed, including some weekend or evening hours
as required.Bondable and capable of maintaining
confidentiality.Education & Experience:Education:A two-year college
degree or completion of a specialized course of study equivalent to
approximately 64 credit hours.Preference for candidates with
accounting-related coursework.Experience:Minimum of 1-3 years of
related accounting experience, preferably in a financial
institution or credit union setting.Skills:Strong analytical,
financial modeling, and reporting skills.Proficiency with GAAP,
FASB, and knowledge of credit union products, services, and
accounting software.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability
to prioritize tasks and handle multiple assignments
effectively.Exceptional organizational and time management
skills.Ability to identify and resolve basic accounting problems
independently.Schedule & Pay:Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00
PM, or 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.Training: In-office training,
transitioning to remote or hybrid options after successful
completion of training.Pay: $24.32/hour#talroo
