Someone to sing the Y's praises and to wax poetic about its splendor, humanitarianism and efficacy.But, the YMCA of Northern Colorado's full-time Grant Writer/Development Specialist is more than a word nerd with a thesaurus. This position is responsible for helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to support, strengthen and serve our neighbors in needs.To fill this position, we need an organized, resourceful, detail-oriented professional with a poet's heart and mad writing skills. You might be the right candidate if...You are an experienced, passionate, prolific grant writer. This position requires serious grant-writing chops. If hired, you will be responsible for every aspect of the grant development and proposal process from research, preparation and submission to reporting and tracking. You will manage the schedule of grant applications and assure timely submission. You will also be responsible for careful and detailed post-award management. You will work with the entire grant and development team, program staff and the finance department to track and gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programs. You will ensure staff are complying with grant requirements, develop and maintain a tracking database and organize grant files and paperwork. And like any upstanding person, you will send thank you notes.You are thorough and committed. You will dive into the Y world with everything you've got. You will need to learn about our long history (more than 140 years in the Boulder Valley), our incredible programs (so incredible) and the projects you will prioritize. You will not simply drink the Y Kool-Aid, you will live the Y cause.You are a communicator. Not just with the words in your grants. You communicate with co-workers, superiors, grantors and volunteers with respect, clarity and professionalism.You know that with every grant, every event, every donation, you are giving children opportunities to jump the achievement gap, families access to affordable childcare and seniors life-transforming wellness programs. You work hard because you know the impact will be far reaching and long lasting. You know you are part of something big, and you love it.Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Three years of documented success in grant writing
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Experience in budget development and management
  • Demonstrated competency in program delivery and leadership
  • Successful track record in developing successful grant proposals, working with institutional donors, and the management of all related grant compliance and reporting practices.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, as well as the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, reason, and solve problems.This year-round, full-time salaried position will office at our Lafayette YMCA. The salary range is $48,000-$52,000 per year and our benefits ROCK.We are a family friendly organization that puts a focus on work-life balance, and our benefits prove it. All full-time staff enjoy a minimum of 3 weeks paid vacation; increased vacation days are awarded to full-time staff based on professional work experience. Full-time YMCA staff receive 88 hours of paid sick time and 8 paid holidays per year (we added Juneteenth as a paid holiday this year). Full-time staff enjoy free YMCA Camp Noco traditional day camp, youth sports, learn to skate and swim lessons and childcare, including after-school and preschool, and half off YMCA Camp Santa Maria overnight camp, personal training and specialty summer camps.
