Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Boulder, CO.

Position Overview:

As a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer you will be developing and sustaining systems using current technologies and others yet to come. We are seeking individuals who have a thirst for knowledge, approach each day with optimism, and have a relentless drive to solve complex problems. The selected Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer will work the Specialized Warfare Defense Contract (SWDC) ESL/BOA program, maintaining the requirements database, documenting the system design, deriving requirements, along with other system engineering functions that may arise.

Essential Functions:

The selected candidate will be the point of contact for all aspects of systems engineering for the program. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Define high-level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation.
• Derive and allocate requirements into detailed design.
• Oversees and manages the engineering design, development of software, systems, and hardware engineering.
• Drives the engineering process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their program.
• Communicates regularly with program management, customers, and engineering management.
• Coordinates with HW/SW team to perform retests and regression tests once defects are corrected.
• Generates applicable documentation.
• Provides problem resolution and improvement recommendations with strong time management skills.
• Minimal (10%) travel to NG and Government locations within U.S.This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
  Basic Qualifications (BQs):
  
  This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Systems Engineer or a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level.
  
  BQs for a Principal Systems Engineer :
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.
  • Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports.
  • Knowledge of a requirements management tool (i.e. DOORS)
  • Experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start. BQs for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer :
    • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 7 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience.
    • Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports.
    • Knowledge of a requirements management tool (i.e. DOORS).
    • Experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
    • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start. Preferred Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Math or related discipline.
      • Experience in modeling tools (preferably Rhapsody or Cameo).
      • Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS to update and write system level requirements.
      • Experience with SysML, UML.
      • Experience in programs using the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology. Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD
        Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD
        
        Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
