Job Description:

Responsibilities: The Controls Engineer will have experience in controls for utility-scale power generation, with a focus on renewable technologies (i.e. solar, wind, and battery storage); development, simulation, and testing of plant-specific controls applications; identification and resolution of problems utilizing analytical methods and modeling; equipment selection; and assisting sales engineers in bid preparation scopes of work, defining user requirements, and developing functional design specifications, and control narratives. The Engineer is expected to possess a good understanding of Solar utility-scale control, such as inverter active power control, Volt/VAR control, and frequency regulation. The Engineer may alternately have a background in battery energy storage and energy management systems. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.5+ years of controls engineering experience in power generation, preferably in the Solar or Energy Storage Industries.Expert in the use of MATLAB, Simulink, and Simulink Coder for application deployment.Knowledge and experience with testing and commissioning activities required for successful solar plant commercial operation.Proficiency with programming, testing, and deployment of power plant controllers, such as the Schweitzer RTAC.Possess broad experience with a wide variety of equipment and devices used in the power industry, including transformers, capacitor banks, breakers, and switchgears.Strong communication skills to coordinate and report on tasks with management, project engineers, designers, and client representatives.Experience with power systems simulations desired. Work Environment: Office Setting, primarily in cubiclesTravel by car, air, train. Moderate to high noise levels (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, moderate traffic).Ability to sit or stand (standing desk provide upon request) at a computer terminal for an extended period. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate (talk/sign/type/write) and operate a computer, telephone (or alternative), keyboard (or typing device), etc.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.Light to moderate lifting may be required.Regular, predictable attendance is required.
