The Senior Manufacturing Production and Engineering Manager has the overall responsibility for the manufacturing production and manufacturing engineering of the instruments and aftermarket parts business lines. This position will lead all instruments and parts manufacturing, including receiving inspection, board testing, welding, instrument assembly, instrument test and calibration, and parts kitting. This position will also manage the manufacturing engineers and software engineers supporting the instruments and aftermarket parts business lines. This position will direct engineering activities to improve the manufacturing operations through design, operating rate / efficiencies improvements, scrap reduction, ergonomic improvements, and tooling improvements. This position will also coordinate the local installation, set-up, and overall readiness of new products (NPI - New Product Introduction) through close collaboration with Analytical Instruments (AI) Technology team. This role will be a key member of our Supply Chain team, reporting directly to AI Global Supply Chain Leader.

    Duties & Responsibilities
    • Provide leadership, coaching, and development of team members ensuring positive and effective cooperation with cross-functional team members to ensure business objectives around safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and new product development are met.
    • Analyze production trends, customer demand, capacity needs, and human resource needs to plan department activities.
    • Forecast operating costs of department and preparation of budget.
    • Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
    • Direct department activities to design equipment needed to improve production.
    • Lead capital expenditure and continuous improvement / LEAN projects.
    • Confer with management, production, and sales staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and production capability for new and existing products.
    • Coordinate with the manufacturing technicians to ensure manufacturability in design phase and implementation on floor within timeline and budget to ensure new product introduction success

      • Proven ability to implement and enforce process improvement initiatives
      • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in instrumentation and hardware development
        Education & Experience

        • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical, electrical, or software) or related program
        • At least 8 years of manufacturing work experience to include manufacturing engineering
        • At least 3 years people leadership work experience
          Preferred (if applicable):
          • Electronics industry manufacturing experience
          • Experience with Lean Manufacturing implementation preferred
          • Experience with using root cause analysis and Lean Six Sigma tools for process improvement and waste reduction preferred
          • Knowledge of SAP

            Compensation The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all of the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $140,000 - $155,000
