We're seeking an experienced spacecraft propulsion systems engineer
who can help our team lead efforts to deliver high-quality flight
propulsion systems.In addition to these duties, we are seeking an
individual who can help our organization develop electrical
propulsion solutions for emerging missions. Any skills and/or
experience in the field of electric propulsion would be viewed as
highly desirable.As a Propulsion Engineer II your duties will
include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement,
and test for one or more propulsion systems, components and/or
assemblies. This job requires coordination with customers,
suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including
manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis,
systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and
facilities. Work can include the complete life cycle of the system
from definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design,
component development, procurement, assembly, testing,
verification, launch preparations and on-orbit operations.The
Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit
comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that
enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating

- Perform trade studies to select the most applicable and
appropriate propulsion design solution given a set of design
criteria and requirements.
- Participate in the development of innovative propulsion
solutions and architectures.
- Technical writing (analysis summary reports, technical
articles, system description documents, test procedures, test
reports, SOWs).
- Support efforts to allow for accommodation of new and/or
refinement of existing propulsion systems including propulsion
system/component sizing, requirement development and allocation,
performance analyses, design tasks, integration, test,
verification, launch and flight operations.
- Support new business development, proposal efforts, and/or
flight projects (definition, design, AI&T, launch,
operations)
- Subcontract technical management including development of
specifications, SOWs, interfaces and supplier data
requirements.
- Maintain subsystem technical baseline at BAE Systems, Inc. with
supplier inputs.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within
the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic
Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with
others in order to maintain a positive and productive work
environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.On-Site Work Environment:
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working
on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work
location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and
other possible non-company locations may be required.Working
Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor,
or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of
protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather
conditions.#IJSRequired Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field
is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may
substitute for two years of experience. Related technical
experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be
from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an
agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department
of Education.
- A strong technical foundation in Spacecraft Propulsion.
- Ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team performing design
trades, detailed design/analysis activities and performance and
maintenance assessments of operational systems.
- Effective in small team-work environment with broad
responsibilities and minimal oversight.
- 2 years direct experience in a design and implementation
related role.
- Propulsion Subsystem Engineering experience with an
understanding of the aspects of design, analysis, and system
operations.
- Architectural understanding of propulsion components
- Knowledge of working with fluid and/or gas feed systems
- Knowledge of a wide range of propulsion system types (e.g.,
Blowdown, Regulated, Bi-propellant, Electric, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of managing
subcontracts.
- Knowledge of vendors/subcontractors across core EP technologies
areas with established relationships with key personnel within
vendor/subcontractor community.
- Excellent presentation skills with experience briefing senior
decision making and technical audiences.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional
relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel &
Word.A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required
to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be
willing and eligible for submission, depending on program
requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to
maintain the applicable clearance/access.Preferred Education,
Experience, & Skills

- Experience designing and/or testing in-space electric
propulsion systems.
- Familiarity with AFSPCMAN 91-710 and other Range Safety
documentation and requirements.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn Electric Propulsion Subsystem
Engineering aspects of design, analysis, production, test, and
operations.
- Understanding of EP PPU topologies and their integration onto
space vehicles
- Knowledge of electric propulsion system types (e.g., HET, ion,
PPT, FEEP, electrospray, etc.)
- Knowledge of EP system control and accommodation within a
spacecraft
- Knowledge of pointing mechanisms
- Experience with industry propulsion analytical tools (AFT
Impulse/Fathom, DSMC, Python, C/C++, MATLAB).
- Knowledge of low-thrust trajectory codes and their
capabilities.
- Direct knowledge of applied plasma physics with
spacecraft/instrument interactions.Pay InformationFull-Time Salary
Range: $111000 - $137500Please note: This range is based on our
market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined
by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business
considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as
well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and
