This position will partner with ATE leadership to understand thecurrent dynamics in the business portfolio, compare to market trends andrequirements and optimize investment opportunities.--Directly responsible fora cost base of approx. $80m including both Opex and Capex, and includingsignificant external supplier and contractor spend.--Responsible forintercompany pricing for work done on behalf of other business units.Responsible for ourFederal Contract reporting, and compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation(FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) requirements.Collaboration,partnership and active stakeholder management are foundational to success inthis role. Thriving in an evolving environment, working to drive innovation,and continuous improvement for efficiency and sustainable growth is key.----The ability to work in amatrixed environment, with remote stakeholders and offshore teams, will be keyto success.Reporting to the VPFinance for School Assessment, you will work closely and collaboratively with ateam of finance analysts in PFS, Belfast, to help shape Pearson's overallfinancial profile, specifically relating to our ATEand the widerAssessments businesses.-- You will also play a part in building the team'scommunity and culture - demonstrating leadership, driving collaboration andtaking the initiative.Key Responsibilities:Financial Analysis andReportingReviews outputs of financial results and forecasts to develop views and actions to guide management; resolves significant reporting variances or recommends corrective actions where needed.Approves and presents financial statements and analysis to management and business leadership, and provides recommendations for improvements. Influences management and business leadership to take corrective action, or make financial improvements - both short and long term.Develops and applies financial analysis to identify the business, commercial and financial impact on the organization of different courses of action; advises on actions or options to improve the modelled outcome.Leads the report generation, engagement with the Federal authorities and external accounting firms, to enable School Assessment to meet our commitments under Federal Contract reporting, and compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) requirements.--Applying and enforcing internal controls, SOX compliance and testing, and compliance with company accounting policies and IFRS.Investment Analysis& AllocationEvaluates and analyzes large and/or complex investments to produce short and long-term projections incorporating all sources of capital and resources (internal labor, external contractors, etc.).-- Uses that analysis to produce a wide variety of analysis/scenarios, and recommends different approaches with pros and cons of each.Supports the capital allocation process to ensure that we are enhancing company value, while making best use of finite resources and funding.-- Provides analysis and commentary on the Capital business requirements to help drive understanding of the business needs and how they can be met within those finite resources.-- Develops and demonstrates potential opportunities and their consequences of alternative courses of action.Cost ManagementManages cost/challenge processes and works closely with the business to ensure key performance indicators (KPI's) are measuring the right metrics. Refines those KPI's on a regular basis to ensure they continue to be relevant and meaningful to drive the right behaviors and maximize value, while monitoring spend.Discusses and recommends transfer pricing systems and--evaluates the effects--of transfer prices.Strategy & ResourcePlanningServes as the lead finance business partner and cooperates with, as well as advises, management and business leadership about decision making in areas of investment.Takes responsibility for defining appropriate metrics and tracking finance strategic performance metrics for value delivered from the initiatives.Leads the financials and resource planning implementation, collaborates with strategic stakeholders, especially Pearson business leaders.Planning, Budgeting& ForecastingTranslates business strategy into financial targets and tactical plans and supports execution in a controlled risk and reward-based manner.Leads the building of the annual budget and quarterly reforecast for ATE ensuring targets are met, and resources are aligned to the School Assessment short-term and long-term objectives and goals.Interprets and makes effective management decisions using benchmarking, trends, and other planning and forecasting method as well as develop and implement improvements to the planning processes.Establishes and ensures effective and consistent modelling, planning and forecasting processes across ATE, identifies and implements best practices in these processes.Skills Required:Building Relationships & Influencing Others-----Identifies the agendas, concerns, and motivations of interested others, and is persuasive when positioning ideas and arguments to address them.
