passionate about operations to help ensure we continue to execute
as a leader in the small satellite industry.
Job Description
As the Senior Manager of Spacecraft Operations you will be
responsible for maintaining and improving operational reliability
of the Spire satellite constellation to meet established SLOs
through your leadership of the Satellite Operations team. You will
work closely with engineering and software development leaders to
identify and improve the operator's ability to proactively mitigate
anomaly impact and streamline processes to ensure optimal
constellation capacity.
Responsibilities of your role:
* Collaboratively identify, prioritize, and implement operational
improvements leading to increasingly autonomous satellite
operations
* Understand, represent, and communicate constellation technical
status to peers and cross functional leadership
* Understand business objectives and work with product owners to
make allocation/trade decisions that maximize value of the
satellite constellation
* Operational awareness and proactive coordination of risks that
impact SLOs and SLAs
* Lead a 24/7 global operations team
* Coach team members as they grow their capabilities, ensure skill
alignment to future operating model
* International and domestic travel required
Basic qualifications/Experience
* 2+ years experience leading an Operations team, including 24/7,
zero downtime and/or mission critical systems
* Experience in process automation, anomaly support, and
troubleshooting of complex or distributed systems
* Experience with Github and/or software configuration management
systems
* Experience working in and grooming issue/ticketing system
* Candidates must be proficient in English
* Export control screening will be required
Preferred qualifications
* Experience career coaching and mentoring
* Experience with agile development, DevOps, and SRE processes and
tools
* Experience with an object-oriented language (preferably
Python)
* Experience managing globally distributed team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams or program
management
* Ability to work independently, yet in a fast-paced and
collaborative environment
* Knowledge of satellite bus system operations such as On Board
Data Handling (OBDH), Electrical Power Systems (EPS), Attitude
Determination and Control Systems (ADCS) or Communications
Systems
* Sense of humor
