Job Description:

This position will be a hybrid position and the individual would be responsible for directing and coordinating the overall functions of the business office to ensure maximization of cash flow while improving patient, physician and other customer relations. Participates and works with other Managers and Supervisors in developing good working relationships and processes throughout the Practice.

1. Plans and directs registration, patient insurance, billing and collections, and data processing to ensure accurate patient billing and efficient account collection.2. Provides training, guidance, and direction to billing personnel on Practice procedures.3. Prepares staff schedules and ensures adequate staffing to meet demands of the department.4. Establishes and implements a system for the collection of delinquent accounts ensuring third-party payers are contacted.5. Establishes and recommends credit and collection policies. Makes recommendations for improvement.6. Performs the Month End Closing and associated spreadsheets for providers.7. Develops and oversees business systems and coordinates with information technology to ensure timely and accurate implementation.8. Keeps department staff appraised of Clinic operations; conducts regular department meetings.9. Prepares, implements and manages existing and new departmental processes and procedures.10. Communicates and educates providers, administration, managers and staff on coding and documentation guidelines, rules, and regulations.11. Manage, research and solve problems with insurance companies relating to denials and appeals on claims12. Assist in resolving patient inquiry regarding invoice/billing questions either in person or via telephone conversation.13. Performs selection, orientation, discipline, evaluation, and dismissal of billing department personnel.14. Maintains facilities, space and equipment to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment.15. Demonstrates and promotes a positive patient/customer service attitude.16. Other duties as assigned.Education: Associates degree in business administration, accounting, bookkeeping, or secretarial science and three years of related experience in a physician business office dealing with account follow-up; or graduation from high school or GED and five years of experience including three years of experience in a physician business office dealing with billingand account follow-up and at least one year of management, supervisory, or lead-worker experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.Experience: See Education section.Other Requirements: NonePerformance Requirements:Knowledge:1. Knowledge of the electronic billing system and all billing related screens profiles and reporting.2. Knowledge of all third-party payer billing requirements.3. Knowledge of business management and basic accounting principles and office practices and procedures to direct the business office.4. Knowledge of medical terminology.5. Knowledge of policies and procedures to accurately answer questions from internal and external customers.Skills:1. Skill in listening, team building and stress management.2. Ability to effectively plan and organize work flow, activities, and scheduling to ensure efficient departmental operations.3. Ability to recognize, analyze, evaluate, solve problems, and make suggestions for improvement.4. Ability to prepare and maintain routine departmental records and reports.5. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in oral and written form.6. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly and aid employees and the public in a pleasant and courteous manner.7. Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel and appropriate practice management software.Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, calculator, etc.Work Environment: Position is in a well-lighted office environment. May be exposed to contagious diseases and other patient-related conditions. Occasional evening and weekend work.Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Business Office and Billing Manager role which involves 80 percent sitting and 20 percent walking, standing, lifting or bending.
