Job Description:

ColdQuanta is seeking an innovative, collaborative team leader to proactively lead the identification and capture of government funding to support the ongoing research and development efforts at ColdQuanta. The newly hired Director/Senior Director of Business Development - Government Programs (DBDG) for ColdQuanta's government programs will be responsible for early shaping and identification of opportunities that 1) allow the dedicated team of researchers to continue to evolve a wide range of quantum-based technologies. and 2) identify applications for inserting our technologies into government needs, objectives, and systems. The DBDG will own the entire capture process from identification through contract award, including spearheading proposal approaches, and will continue to support the execution team by serving as the post-capture voice of the customer. The director will coordinate across multiple functions to identify businesses and "win" business that supports the broader ColdQuanta mission and strategy, while also communicating the voice of the customer and associated mission needs to internal stakeholders, such as the execution teams. The Director will report to the President, Research & Security Solutions.Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Negotiating, committing to, and achieving aggressive goals for new business
  • Developing a robust understanding of ColdQuanta's strategy and research strengths, and pursuing funding opportunities that connect the strengths of the researchers and engineers with those funding opportunities which accelerate the company's strategic growth
  • Supporting the development of business cases and detailed roadmaps that drive decisions
  • Recommends investments to position the company for longer term growth
  • Provides guidance and support in developing, modifying, and maintaining business development roadmaps for long-term growth and success
  • Provides the customer with an additional conduit of escalation to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction well beyond contract award
  • Drives and supports decisions that propel the team towards success
  • Collaborates with internal technical and execution partners to identify and promote emergent opportunities and plans
  • Collaboratively develops persuasive documents with ColdQuanta's technical staff and business leaders, including but not limited to, white papers, technical abstracts, and visual presentation aids, to accelerate emergent opportunities and plans
  • Engages with industry and government leaders to develop externally driven partnerships in key technology verticals
  • Collaborates with ColdQuanta business leaders, technologists, and external partners to grow program opportunities from the identification phase, through proposals, and program kickoff
  • Identifies and recommends subcontract and partnership opportunities that will form strong win strategies
  • Other duties as assigned or required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Significant experience in business development and sales, with a focus on government-funded projects and acquisitions, is required
    • Knowledge of Federal/State business acquisition cycles and processes through hands-on experience is required
    • Demonstrated ability to get "wins" and to meet assigned quotas and deliverables is required
    • Demonstrated ability to handle a large, technical, and diverse portfolio
    • Highly technical background; physics background desired but not required
    • Security clearance highly preferred; ability to obtain a security clearance is required
    • Management and leadership experience is highly preferred
    • Candidates based in CO, Washington, DC metro or the I-95 Beltway, or are willing to relocate to one of the locations, will be given preferential consideration
    • Ability to travel up to 30% This position will pay $151,500 - $223,818 per year
