Job Description:
Full Time, Days. 36 hours/week. Various shifts with weekends and
rotating holidays. Pay Range is between $29.07-$46.11/hr, depending
on years of relevant and like experience. **Range includes $2.00
Weekend differential
3E Med/Surg at BCH is a team of dynamic nurses and aides with
varying backgrounds in nursing and medicine and with a drive for
excellent patient care and teamwork. Our department has 27 beds and
we specialize in respiratory, infectious disease, endocrinology,
diabetes, wounds, gastroenterology, med/surg tele and surgeries of
all kinds. We also take overflow from all areas and have
opportunity to develop a varied skill set. We look forward to

POSITION SUMMARY Functions as a direct patient caregiver within the
unit's care delivery system, with increasing independence.
Integrates nursing theories in patient care. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) Colorado RN
license in good standing BLS certification required within the
conditional period of hired position. ACLS encouraged for Clinical
Team Leads. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Demonstrated physical and
mental ability to apply nursing theories, procedures and standards
to clinical practice WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to,
any of the following hazards: chemical, electrical, mechanical,
biowaste, explosive, radiation, etc. Environmental conditions may
include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise,
odors, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee
is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently
is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is
occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit. The employee must be
able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10
pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds
and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50
pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).
Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor
skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for
essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and
touch. . SUPERVISORY DUTIES Supervises PCAs ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Patient Care Provides direct total
patient care for specific group of patients with collaboration as
needed. Demonstrates clinical competence in performing nursing
procedures and identifies the rationale underlying the nursing
skills. Identifies patient care problems, makes interventions based
upon an understanding of the biopsychosocial processes. Assesses
patient status systematically and anticipates and responds to
changes in patient clinical condition. May be required to perform
point of care testing. May be a point of care trainer. It is the
expectation that all care providers document accurately and in real
time, utilizing the electronic medical record within their
department. Patient Education Identifies patient learning needs,
develops and implements and individualized teaching plan for
patients. Management and Decision-Making Utilizes effective time
management skills in planning and providing patient care. Provides
constructive input to problem-solving. Professional Growth
Identifies own learning needs and expands knowledge base through
clinical practice and self-directed learning. Participates in peer
review process as requested. Attends unit educational programs and
staff meetings Professional Contributions Participates in achieving
the goals of the unit, division, and hospital. Shares knowledge
obtained from workshops and literature with health care team on an
individual or group basis. Able to function as preceptor for
students and/or orients with direction. Assists with data
collection for QA research activities as requested.
