Full Time, Days. 40 hours/week. This is an ON_Call RN position for CVOR. Potentially works 1-2 shifts weekly. Covers call Friday PM-Monday AM. Paid 40 hours. $20,000 Sign On Bonus, not available for current BCH staff or rehires. Pay range is between $40.39-$55.60/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience. **This range includes an "Above Market Differential" that has been set in place due to the current staffing climate. POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for the general wellbeing of the patient during the peri-operative period, acts as the patient's advocate and works as a member of the surgical team, is knowledgeable in the areas of aseptic technique, infection control, emergency procedures, and general operating room procedures. Works with highly technical, ever-changing equipment. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)
Colorado RN license in good standing
BLS certification required within conditional period.
Member of professional organization and CNOR preferred
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Clinical competency with routine surgical skills in circulating with scrubbing preferred
Demonstrates assessment and response to changes in the patient's condition (basic understanding and integration of patient care and practice)
Communicates clearly on all aspects of documentation
Must be flexible to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed
Able to assess, treat and/or care for patients of all ages
Demonstrates knowledge of preparation, maintenance, cleaning and usage of equipment
Prepares specimens and lab forms for laboratory analysis
Experience Minimum of one year OR circulating experience and scrub experience preferred ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and implements a teaching plan based on identified patient and family needs.
Continues to expand knowledge base through clinical practice and self-directed learning, identifying own strengths and weaknesses.
Sets priorities utilizing effective time management when delivering patient care with completion of responsibility.
May be required to perform point of care testing. May be a point of care trainer.
Provides constructive input to problem solving in both patient and unit situations.
Consults with and/or advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring follow-up or attention.
Responsible for monitoring specific supplies and equipment in service.
Flexibility to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed. Is scheduled for emergency call on nights, weekends and holidays (per diem -department specific). Mandatory overtime.
Demonstrates clinical competency with routing surgical skills including scrubbing and circulating.
Demonstrates knowledge of preparation, maintenance, cleaning and usage of equipment
Prepares specimens and lab forms for laboratory analysis.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).
Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards: chemical, electrical, mechanical, biowaste, explosive, radiation, paraceytic acid, laser and plumes (laser and cautery).
Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
Functional physical demands include manual dexterity and reaching.
The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
