RN Lactation Consultant - Mother / BabyPer Diem, Various shifts
and hours/week. Pay Range is between $38.25-$57.37/hr, depending on
years of relevant and like experience. Range includes per diem

community. POSITION SUMMARY Provide lactation services in all
hospital departments; provides inpatient and outpatient lactation
consultation to; serves as a resource to medical and nursing
staff.# Responsible for providing support for the mother-infant
breastfeeding dyad. Task include assessment, planning,
interventions, and evaluation of lactation support and education.
Promote a breastfeeding friendly environment in compliance with the
10 Steps to Successful breastfeeding as outlined by Baby-Friendly
USA. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Special Qualifications (licensure,
registration, etc.) Colorado RN license in good standing.
International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
preferred. CLC, CLS, CCL with successful completion of IBLCE within
two years. Current BLS (obtain within 90 days of hire) Knowledge,
Skill and Ability Completion of competency based orientation
program specific to lactation. Demonstrates knowledge of
teaching/learning theory. Demonstrates effective verbal and written
communication skills, including telephone communication. Handles
stressful and heavy work assignments on a daily basis. Experience
Two years clinical experience in perinatal nursing, including
lactation experience. One year of experience as a lactation
consultant preferred or successful completion of IBCLC internship
including inpatient consulting. Experience with lactation support
and education in a NICU setting strongly desired RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizes and prioritizes workload to most effectively accomplish
goals. Conducts a full assessment of mother and baby and analyzes
complex subjective and objective data in order to develop a plan of
care. Communicates clearly and effectively with physicians, nursing
staff, and clients regarding lactation management. Promotes
breastfeeding and assists mothers in reaching their own
breastfeeding goals. Provides education and consultation to nursing
and physician staff regarding lactation issues. Participates in
prenatal education events to promote breastfeeding support.
Participates in lactation program development and goals.
Facilitates prenatal classes and breastfeeding support group as
needed. Participates in unit based and interdepartmental QI
activities. Demonstrates a service excellence attitude in job
