Description Job Title Sorter Sep-24 FLSA Status – Non Exempt
Summary Sorts incoming merchandise into specified classifications
to supplement the stores productivity and increase sales. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities Sorts merchandise. Examines merchandise
to determine if item is sellable or non-sellable. Throws away
non-sellable merchandise before it goes to the pricer’s table.
Sorter is not responsible for determining which “debatable” items
are sellable or not. These “debatable” items need to be given to
the pricer for their determination. Places sellable items in the
bin for the pricer to price. Sorter has responsibility to meet
timelines and production goals. Maintains cleanliness and
organization of the work area for safety and efficient production.
Ensures the flow of product in and out of the workstation. Performs
other duties and special assignments as directed, including
assignments, which may be outside the primary area of employment.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skill and Ability Knowledge of styles and
trends. Ability to identify merchandise quality. Ability to work as
a productive member of a team. Education and/or Experience Required
Experience working with a diverse workforce. Ability to work with
individuals possessing developmental disabilities. Ability to use
good judgment. Energy to take on fast-paced work. Good listener.
Physical Demands Works inside in a production and retail
environment. Exposure to temperature fluctuations. While performing
the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to
speak, hear, stand and move throughout the store. Use upper body
strength to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While
performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be
exposed to dust from donations. While performing the duties of this
job, the employee is constantly standing, bending and stooping and
occasionally walking. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee must be able to lift the arms shoulder height or above.
While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able
to push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds. To perform
this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications, working
