Caribou Thunder is a Global Service Provider supporting a wide variety of DoD, Space, and Intelligence programs with consistent growth since inception to over 100 associates and $10M in annual sales with solid performance in 35 states across the U.S. and 22 countries around the world.Caribou Thunder is seeking a Principal Tracking Algorithm Software Engineer 3/4 to support the Algorithms, Performance, and Analysis team within the Missile Defense Systems Business Unit (MDS).
JOB DUTIESCandidate will be responsible for researching and identifying complex, multi-disciplinary problems, breaking into components, designing/implementing algorithm solutions for a broad range of sensor exploitation activities. Sensor output used for identification, characterization, interpretation, and change detection of objects and events.Work includes planning and executing team projects, developing work packages, developing prototypes and customer demonstrations, in addition to analyzing algorithm performance, subsystems, and interfaces. Report status to colleagues, customers, and management.Must have a working knowledge of sensors, with respect to focal plane resolution, sensitivity, and line of sight considerations for the purpose of tracking. Knowledge of visible or IR focal planes and other sensor systems engineering experience is desirable.Participates in technical peer reviews and work with various Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) as well as be cognizant of algorithm development and integration issues. The engineer must communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Represent the organization as a technical POC and may have frequent inter-organizational and customer contacts.Supervisory / leadership role.Provides software engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements.Makes recommendations and advises on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.Performs risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONSExperience with C/C++ software language, development tools, and integrated development environments (IDEs)Software algorithm development experience for complex, mathematically intensive systemsAbility to travel on occasion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBasic skills in MATLAB or Python and system modelingExperience in tracking and prediction algorithms, simulation, validation, and algorithmsGround systems experience in mission processing, ground communications, and space operationsExperience in the numerical implementation of motion filters.Familiarity with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) sensors and simulationsExperience with APL2, PERL, STK, or logging and parsing toolsLinux experienceStrong statistical background and skillsExperience with model-based engineering
CLEARANCEDoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance that is or has been active within the last two yearsAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret, TS/SCI clearance
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSLEVEL 3:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, or related discipline plus 5 years of related experienceOR Masters and 3 years of related experienceOR PhD and 0 years of related experience
