Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Launch and Missile Defense Systems (LMDS) division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Software Integration and Development Engineer to join the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) Sensor Specific Processing (SSP) Team. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the missile defense industry. FORGE SSP is a software application hosted on the Governments FORGE framework used to process legacy Space Based Infrared Sensor (SBIRS) data.The position is located in Boulder, CO - Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.Position Overview:As a Principal Software Engineer or Sr. Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the testing, deployment, and troubleshooting/debugging of software applications to multiple locations across Colorado. Primary software deployments to local locations within Boulder. Minimal travel to Aurora and Colorado Springs for software deployment and testing.Essential Functions:Software engineering support for multi-language environment. Priority order: Python V3, C++, and JavaOperates proficiently in Linux environmentsFamiliarity with OpenShiftSoftware deployment, integration, and test in Government classified facilities. NG Boulder will be homebase the bulk of the time.Live software debug/troubleshooting and defect documentationUtilizing Jira to document bugs and enhancementsEnhance usability, performance, and maintainability of systems via analysis and bug fixesThis role will focus primarily on software onboarding, integration, and testing, and may include some software development.Seeking candidates who find satisfaction in working on challenging and diverse assignments in collaborative settings across all levels.This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer or Sr. Principal Software Engineer:Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.Sr. Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years experience, 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.Linux OS experiencePython and C++ proficiencyAbility and willingness to travel up-to 20% to support business needsConfiguration management software experience (i.e. Git, etc.)Applicants must have an active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance which is required to start; with SCI eligibility.Preferred Qualifications:OO design pattern and modern data structure experienceSoftware development and troubleshooting in a team environmentsAgile development experienceAtlassian Tool Suite experienceFull software development lifecycle experienceSalary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USDSalary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USDEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
