The User Experience (UX) Strategist partners with Product Managers, Designers and Developers to identify behavioral insights and build user experience strategies that deliver meaningful experiences for Finish Line & JD Sports customers. A person in this role will be expected to complete research, perform testing, audit experiences, and drive the development of strategic recommendations to inform our product roadmaps. User UX Strategist is expected to constantly hone their eCommerce expertise in user experience and interface design to be a thought leader within the organization and industry. The person in this role should be a self-starter with deep knowledge in research best practices, the experience to initiate and lead ''hands-on' testing and the ability to build and recommend strategies. This individual should effectively exhibit JD Finish Line's core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following key duties:
  • Leads regular and ad-hoc user experience research efforts to support product roadmap, prioritization and development
  • Manages and coordinates UX research, user-testing, A/B testing and other data-driven research efforts
  • Identifies opportunities to improve collection and synthesis of customer behavior data, including regular experience audits, to encourage continuous improvement of customer experiences
  • Understands the key user-behavior differences and nuances of digital form factors (ex. mobile, tablet, desktop) and maintains fluency in how form factors influence experience design
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of eCommerce industry trends, tools and research approaches to keep practices current and relevant.
  • Leads cross-functional experience design workshops and sessions to move ideas and concepts from early-stage thinking to actionable strategies and product plans
  • Contributes to platform growth strategy by building materials and related support for product recommendations, working in collaboration with Product Management to pitch new concepts to business stakeholders
  • Partners closely with enterprise data group to understand and gain insights from a suite of analytics tools in order to support recommendations with data
  • Manage partnerships and relationships with vendor partners

Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's Degree in business or behavioral science related field from a four-year college or university; and 2 - 4 years' previous experience in using qualitative and quantitative approaches to plan and conduct user experience research, testing and usability recommendations for purposes of user experience design and development; Internal candidates with JD Finish Line experience strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated success in a start-up or change-management environment. Background in the use and optimization of user experience research and product management toolsets such as A/B testing, behavioral analytics, business intelligence. Familiarity with agile development management platforms preferred. Demonstrated success managing project budgets, timelines and resources.

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Should have fluent knowledge and abilities with Google (GSuite) Applications and communication tools. Strong appreciation for Cloud based (and SaaS) applications. Business level understanding of Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and XML, SOAP/REST/WEB services. Previous work in QA of digital applications preferred.

  • Average workweek is 40-50 hours, which can vary depending on business need.


The company reserves the right to modify this job description with or without notice. Employees may be asked to perform additional duties outside of normal job scope on a temporary basis per the company policy. This role will pay approximately $70,000 - $80,000 with a 10% bonus target annually but may vary based on experience level. This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
