This job posting is "continuous" or "open until filled" and will close when a qualified candidate is identified and/or hired.


Under general supervision, to plan and prepare meals for Watershed Crew, to order needed supplies, to clean kitchen and dining areas, and to perform related duties as required.


* Prepares three meals per day during weekdays for a crew of up to ten. * Plans menus and prepares a food list for weekly supply pick-up. This includes purchasing food and kitchen supplies. * Monitors and tracks food and kitchen supplies expenditures. * Cleans kitchen and dining area, including washing dishes, pots and pans, mopping floors, and wiping tables. * Other: * Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the city. * Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to city property. * Knows and complies with all city and department policies; participates in professional trainings and development; and adheres to attendance and workplace attire policies.

Generally, duties and responsibilities are listed from most to least critical or time consuming.




Experience cooking for a group, planning meals, and purchasing food and kitchen supplies. Physical ability to lift and transport heavy kitchenware. Ability to work well on a team. Ability to perform strenuous physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment under a variety of weather conditions at a high altitude. Physical ability to stand, walk, and kneel on a frequent basis while using manual and power tools. Ability to lift and carry timber and building materials. Upper body strength to lift and carry equipment and supplies as needed. Ability to utilize all required safety equipment. Valid driver's license. Have and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record and criminal history.

WORKING CONDITIONS - Required Physical and Mental Effort, and Environmental Conditions:

In addition to the information listed above.

Physical and Mental Effort:Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to prepare food.Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate kitchen equipment, and manual and power tools. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in a kitchen and outdoor environment. Work may include extended periods of time standing. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines and changing priorities and conditions.

Work Environment: Works at a high altitude in an indoor environment and an outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions. May work in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises.

Machines and equipment used include, but are not limited to the following: Kitchen equipment, manual and power tools, a vehicle, and standard office equipment including computers, phones, calculators and copy/fax machines.


* Employee must live on-site Monday thru Friday at Silver Lake, or as otherwise negotiated. * Employee sleeps in private room in bunkhouse and has access to private bathroom in bunkhouse. * Employee works an 8 hour shift each day. * Employee commutes between Boulder and Silver Lake in a city vehicle at the start and end of the work week. * During non-working hours, employee must comply with city rules, regulations, and policies while on-site. * Silver Lake Watershed is 13 miles from Nederland, CO. the nearest town.
