OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Purpose of this position is to perform a variety of urban parks
maintenance on City property and complete tasks as assigned by Park
Supervisors and field staff. Performs other duties as required.
Position is seasonal and for the duration of the summer.
ESSENTIALJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of properties and
parks. May include: Preparing areas for rentals/events Turf
maintenance; Hardscape cleaning and maintenance; Vandalism
repair/removal; Horticulture maintenance; Irrigation repair and
maintenance; Waste and litter removal Minor repair of buildings and
- Must be 16 years of age or older. Ability to perform a wide
range of physical and manual tasks in and outdoor environment under
a variety of weather conditions. May need to work hours that are
flexible and include weekends and evenings. Ability to evaluate
conditions in assigned area and make judgments related to safety.
Ability to provide excellent customer service. Effective
interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills. Have
and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal
conviction history. Ability to keep accurate records, organize
information, supplies and equipment, and follow established
procedures. Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
Ability to operate riding mowers, tractors, truck and trailers, and
other landscape equipment. Ability to provide information and
instruction to individuals and groups. Ability to work alone under
WORKING CONDITIONS ANDREQUIREMENTS
Physical Demands:Ability to perform a wide range of strenuous
physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment. Physical
ability to stand, walk, and kneel. Able to use a variety of long
handled, manual, and power tools; and to operate equipment while
working in and around moving traffic. Upper body strength tolift
upto 40 pounds on a daily basis and over 75 pounds on an occasional
basis. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other
communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate
effectively in person.
Work Environment:Frequently works outside with an exposure to a
variety of weather conditions. Works in a setting subject to
continuous interruptions and background noises. Ability to stand,
crawl, crouch, climb, stoop and kneel in on a regular basis.
Machines and equipment used include but are not limited to the
following:hand tools, standard office equipment including personal
computers, telephones, calculators and copy/faxmachines
This position with the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation
department requires a good driving record and no more than 8 points
or 3 moving convictions or a suspended or revoked license in the
past two years.
