WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 1.############### Subject to unpleasant odors and unsightly conditions in a hot, steamy environment. 2.############### Exposure to cleaning chemicals and sharp objects. 3.############### Constant standing, lifting, bending, pushing and pulling.# Must be able to lift 50 pounds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1.############### Prepares and portions food items for patient tray service, makes coffee (as necessary) and serves selected food and beverages. 2.############### Loads trays into patient food carts and delivers carts to appropriate patient care units. 3.############### Conveys soiled food carts from patient care units to kitchen; unloads and clears trays. 4.############### Properly racks dishes, trays, cups, tableware, pots and pans and feeds through dish machine checking for cleanliness and absence of defects or hazards. 5.############### As necessary, picks up catered functions; cleaning the equipment and storing cleaned items in proper location. 6.############### Distributes clean dishes and supplies to proper work areas and keeps them supplied throughout the day. In particular, keeps cafeteria stocked with all service ware (trays, plates, silverware) during lunch and after. 7.############### Maintains standards of cleanliness and sanitation of self and work area throughout the day (includes thorough and frequent hand washing). 8.############### Cleans related dishroom equipment, food carts and utility carts, checking for repairs and notifying a supervisor daily. 9.############### Collects trash from all kitchen, cafeteria, dining room and dishroom trash cans. Relines cans. Takes trash and empty boxes to the trash compactor or recycle bin. Washes hands before doing other job duties.
