Description:
Responsible for accurate claims entry from medical record
documentation for office visits into EMR for billing. Responsible
for verifying and obtaining authorizations for PT/OT services when
indicated. Responsible for calling insurance companies and
troubleshooting when necessary.
Requirements:
1. Working from the documentation in the medical record, assigns
appropriate modifiers, units and time per payor requirements. 2.
Create claims once the above information has been determined and
submission of claim within our Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
system.3. Review insurance eligibility of patients prior to
processing claims.4. Assist in obtaining prior authorizations for
PT/OT services.5. Assist in insurance verification of therapy
benefits.6. Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal
with patients calmly and pleasantly.7. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Experience:
Entry level. Some experience with CPT/ICD-10 coding would be
helpful.Performance Requirements:Skills:Excellent written and
verbal communication skills.Strong typing skillsStrong basic
mathematical skills with a high degree of organization.Abilities:1.
Ability to establish/maintain cooperative working relationships
with staff and providers.2. Ability to communicate effectively and
in a professional manner with all staff, managers and physicians.3.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task.Work Schedule: Monday-Friday;
standard business hours, located within the therapy department.Work
Environment: Employee is required to have visual and auditory
acuity necessary for communications with other employees and/or
customers to meet business needs; Employee must be able to see
written documentation and be able to speak and hear for
communication with employees/customers; Ability to use a wide array
of office equipment including, but not limited to a PC, copier,
fax, multi-line telephone, etc. Employee is exposed to general
indoor working conditions.Physical Requirements: Must possess the
physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally
associated with a Medical Data Entry Specialist and Front Desk role
which involves 80 percent sitting. May work under stress.
