The primary responsibility is to assist College faculty and staff with various CU-related activities in support of large award and large research group administration. This includes serving as a primary resource at the college-level in understanding each unit's processes and procedures with respect to research financial administration and serving as a backup, when necessary. This position works closely with and supports all college units administering large awards, research compliance, special projects, process improvements and other research functions. Our vision is to be a recognized world leader for excellence and innovation in engineering research and education, with an emphasis on inclusive excellence, active learning and global society.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeLarge Research Grant Administration:In conjunction with college units where the award resides, serve as a resource in managing large research awards and contracts such as Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANNs), Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E's), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and others. This includes understanding and managing the budget templates and workbooks, terms and conditions that help department Finance Managers/Department Research Administrators (DRA's) perform award management, cost share requirements and compliance, invoicing, reporting, technical and additional financial results.Interact with campus level central offices such as Research Innovation Office (RIO), Campus Controllers Office (CCO), & Office of Contracts and Grants (OCG) to support college faculty and staff to ensure compliance and timely processing of research awards.Support PI's with large research groups by monitoring awards, appointments, financial spreadsheet summaries and reporting requirements. Work closely with finance staff in all college units to manage these functions successfully.Work closely with OCG to process and assist college units with large proposal/award budgets including Dept. of Energy (DOE), Dept. of Defense (DOD) or other sponsor spreadsheet submissions, cost share requirements and multi-department split award budgets.Research Finance Support:Work with departments on managing documentation and compliance on all types of awards, provide written guidance on what units need to have in their project shared files and other inquiries, as needed.Suggest and build process improvements teaming with Research Support Office personnel and the Associate Dean for Research.Build a shared environment for best/standard practices for research award management. Work with CEAS units on implementations that best fit their business model and ensure compliance with University processes.Support college units with all service agreements, which involves invoicing, cash management, compliance and rate settings.Assist with Indirect Cost Recovery split set up and monitoring across the college.Departmental Support and Training:Support the facilitation of employee training and onboarding involving OCG, CCO and university policies and procedures. This may include creating training materials such as informational handouts and hosting training sessions for faculty and staff in college units on various research administration topics, when necessary.Backfill research/finance administration during absences, vacancies and high-volume cycles, as needed.Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Associate Dean for Research Administration.What You Should KnowAll University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to follow the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. Be Boulder.What We RequireA Bachelor's degree with three years of professional experience in contract or grant administration (technical, project management and deliverables, intellectual property, regulatory).
