N114 employs world class systems engineering, PNT, remote sensing, space cyber, and digital engineering SMEs to help our sponsors solve the nation's Space challenges of today and tomorrow.As a member of our Space Services Department team, you will help solve our nation's most technically challenging problems and work in the public interest building a more capable and resilient space enterprise. This work will be conducted collaboratively with multiple MITRE and government organizations. You will fill the demanding role as a GPS Cybersecurity Engineer and as a key technical advisor to the Space Systems Command (SSC).The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a U.S.-owned utility that provides users with positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services. SSC ensures PNT requirements and capabilities are integrated across the Space, Control and User segments (collectively known as the GPS Enterprise) as part of an extensive modernization program. N114 department is seeking to hire talented and creative engineer with significant expertise cyber security to support projects for the USSF and their mission on delivering resilient and unrivaled space capabilities for the warfighter. In this position, they will partner with government sponsors as thought leaders and trusted advisors to provide subject matter expertise and lead technical efforts in cyber engineering. Qualified candidate will join a team of technical experts focused on GPS cyber engineering. Our diverse set of sponsors and research objectives provide a wide variety of interesting work opportunities. Example project activities include:+ Review GPS system designs and proposed system modifications for compliance with specified cyber requirements+ Analyze cyber risks and other threats to GPS systems and propose remediations+ Assist with the preparation, execution, and post-event analysis of GPS cybersecurity assessments.+ Plan, participate in, and evaluate the results of cyber-related portions of formal system verification activities+ Define requirements for monitoring systems for potentially adverse activities+ Support cyber systems engineering activities including requirements analysis for military/civilian applications, system design tradeoffs, and systems verification.+ Apply software development skills to bring secure capabilities to fruition+ Collaborate and interface directly with a wide range of Government and non-Government, technical and non-technical, personnel to explain and advocate for MITRE's technical recommendations. + Embedded support at customer location or direct support to the developmental contractor If the above activities sound exciting to you and are interested in tackling some of our nation's toughest space cyber challenges, apply to this position!Required Qualifications:+ Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related major with at least 3 years of cyber experience+ 5 years of related experience+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.+ Knowledge of government, commercial, and academia cybersecurity guidance and best practices (e.g., NIST Special Publications)+ Experience developing/reviewing cybersecurity artifacts and planning, executing, and/or evaluating cybersecurity tests+ Some familiarity with the requirements for GPS Control, Space, or User Equipment as well as GPS signals and applications. + Experience with systems engineering processes, including those related to change management.+ Excellent writing and communication skills to develop and deliver technical products and presentations.+ Success working in a highly collaborative environment with peers and government officials.Preferred Qualifications:+ Active Secret clearance+ 10 years of related experience+ Master's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related field.+ Deep familiarity with GPS Control, Space, and User Equipment and their cyber security challenges.+ Familiarity with other United States Space Force (USSF) mission systems and architectures.+ A security certification that meets DoD 8570.01-M requirements for Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level 1.+ Familiarity with compliance assessments (e.g., National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53A and Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA)).+ Familiarity with vulnerability assessment test tools (e.g., Nessus, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker (SCC), and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Secure Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) Viewer).This position can sit in El Segundo, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, Aurora, CO, or Denver, CO.This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):Salary compensation range and midpoint:$100,000 - $125,000 - $150,000 AnnualSubject to all federal and state laws, rules and regulations, MITRE requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
