On Call CST position for CVOR. Potentially works 1-2 shifts weekly. Covers call Friday PM - Monday AM. Paid 40 hours. $10,000 Sign-On Bonus Available! *not available for current BCH staff or rehires.Pay range is between $30.28-$42.92/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience. +$2.50/hr for evening and weekend shifts.Boulder Community Health is a Certified Level II Trauma Center. Come be part of an independent, community-focused health system; feel good knowing that your work will make a difference in people's lives and positively contribute to the community.POSITION SUMMARYAssists the registered nurse in the intra-operative care of the surgical patient by the performance of routine and delegated duties according to the policies and procedures of Boulder Community Hospital.JOB QUALIFICATIONSEducation or Formal TrainingGraduate of a School of Surgical Technology or an equivalent of education and /or experience may be considered. ORGraduate of a School of Nursing with one-year experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting ORFormer training in a military settingSpecial Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)Colorado Registration is requiredCertification preferredBLS certification requiredOne to two years experience in an acute care setting preferredKnowledge, Skill and AbilityDemonstrated physical and mental ability to apply nursing theories, procedures and standards to clinical practiceExperience1-2 years experience is requiredESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMeet all requirements of Surgical Tech.Proficiently scrub all complex procedures listed in Surgical Technologist job description as well.Instrumented SpineCranisTotal hip (excluding techs only working weekday shifts)Total Knee (excluding techs only working night and weekend shifts)Advanced vascular (required for techs working weekend and night shifts)Multisystem trauma (required for techs working weekend and night shifts)Take an active role, under the direction of the Clinical Service Lead while the Service Coordinator is on vacation/off work, ensuring instruments and equipment are available to their specialty service for use.Demonstrate knowledge in the care and handling of instruments, sutures, and other operating room equipment to decrease damage and promote longer equipment life.Demonstrate knowledge of principles of surgical asepsis.Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by preparing and passing of instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed during the operative procedure.Assists the RN in the delivery of care to the intra-operative procedure.Demonstrates proper handling of specimens.Consults with and/or advises appropriate personnel of instrument or equipment needs requiring follow-up or attention.Utilizes physician preference cards and inventory lists to accurately organize equipment and supplies for operative surgical procedures.Knowledge of sterilization techniques used in the surgical suite.Ability to scrub all surgical procedures in their specialty and competent in all other services to meet call requirements.WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIESPhysical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards:High-pressure steam Explosive StressChemical Radiation Back strainElectrical Laser Body fluidsMechanical Laser plume Glutaraldehyde, etc.Biowaste Paracetic AcidEnvironmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli, etc.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk.The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist.The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching.The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.About Boulder Community Health and Boulder, ColoradoUncompromising medical excellence delivered with respect and compassion.
