Job Description:
RN - Sane Per Diem, Various shift and hours/week. Pay Range is
between $36.43 $54.65/hr, depending on years of relevant and like
experience. Range includes per diem differential. +$2.50/hr for
evening and weekend shifts.# Boulder Community Health is a

community. POSITION SUMMARY The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
provides timely non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual
assault victim. This includes a forensic exam, prophylaxis for
sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy prevention, photographic
documentation, referrals for appropriate after care, and
participation in the legal proceedings upon subpoena.# The SANE
also provides evidence collection from suspects as requested by law
enforcement, upon consent by suspect or search warrant if
applicable.# The SANE is expected to follow protocols established
for the SANE program. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal
Training Degree as required by licensure Special Qualifications
(Licensure, Registration, etc.) Colorado RN license in good
standing Knowledge, Skill and Ability The RN will possess current
knowledge and skills in the nursing care that includes theory base
in anatomy and physiology, educational information and psychosocial
information to respond to the needs of the patients and their
families. Clinical expertise in the assessment of sexual assault
Excellent interpersonal skills Concise, clear documentation
Computer Software comfort and ease; keyboarding skills Activity to
be self-directed with flexible hours Expert witness for sexual
assault cases Physical and mental stamina to perform job duties.
Experience 3 years experience in nursing, preferably ED or Women
Care Ability to work autonomously Completion of 64 hours of SANE
training or previous employment as a SANE RN. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES to triage patient appropriately if a change in
medical condition occurs requiring transport to ER for
reassessment. Coordinate care by all agencies in assisting sexual
assault victim during medical-forensic exam. Communicate with ED
regarding physical/ medical needs that may arise during exam
Perform and document sexual assault and forensic interview
correctly. Perform a complete physical and forensic evidence
collection including head to toe assessment for trauma, detailed
genital exam, forensic specimen collection, including photography.
Maintain chain of evidence for collected evidence. Document
injuries accurately with support of digital photography. Adherence
to evidence collection protocols. Maintain professional standards
that do not create conflict of interest with employment and patient
care, including patient and medical record confidentiality. Abstain
from influence of drugs and alcohol while on call per BCH policy.
Provide expert testimony as witness for cases performed as SANE
during judicial process. Communicate with corresponding agency and
district attorney as necessary. Maintain exam room and equipment to
provide for continued and unpredicted patient care. Maintain
contact with SANE coordinator for 2 years after leaving program to
enable contact with judicial system if required for trial cases.
