Who We Are:As a recognized leader in space science research and spacecraft instrumentation, avionics, and electronics, we are helping to reveal the secrets of our solar system and the universe.Objectives of this Role:Electrical Engineer with capabilities in digital and analog design, layout and test.Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:Cognizant engineer for the entire life cycle of instruments and/or electronics.Requirements development (taking science requirements to instrument requirements).Systems development (taking instrument requirements to design).Front end electronics development and mixed signal (analog and digital) design for instrumentation.Support development of NASA instrumentation including electronics design in both the digital and analog domains.Broad responsibilities include design, board layout (including signal integrity issues with high-speed logic and also low-level analog), and test.Circuit analysis including PSpice or similar tools.Parts Stress Analysis and part derating.Develop and/or modify existing FPGA designs.Requirements:Requires a Bachelors or a Masters in Electrical Engineering2+ years: experience desired.Analog or digital circuit design, with emphasis in working with instrument and detector systems.Knowledge of operation of electronic test equipment. Mixed signal design desired.Strong debugging skills.Knowledge of communications protocols (SpaceWire, LVDS, RS-422 asynchronous interfaces, TCP I/P).Experience with flight hardware desired but not required.MS Office, Verilog and/or VHDL, exposure to scripting languages (Python, etc.).Ability to work well in a team environment.
