The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation and flow of calls handled within their scheduling areas. This includes, but is not limited to pre-registration, scheduling, obtaining accurate demographics, and providing exam preparations in a courteous and efficient manner. Other duties pertinent to optimal customer service, patient flow, and efficient staff utilization are also expected.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:30pm Mountain Standard Time. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 4747 Arapahoe Ave Boulder, CO 80303

All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Schedule patients in one of the following areas: a. Hospital Outpatient Scheduling, which includes, but is not limited to: Routine and urgent imaging exams, Imaging guided biopsies and exams requiring sedation, Antibiotic and Biological Infusions. Outpatient Adult Rehab, which includes, but is not limited to: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy. Speech Therapy.
  • Knowledge of Epic Pre-Registration workflows, which includes, but is not limited to: Accurate verification and entry of patient demographic and insurance information, Create and Verify Hospital account, Complete compliance questionnaires, such as MSPQ
  • Resource to providers, patients, and modalities through: Basic understanding of patient flow to provide clear check-in instructions to patients. Appropriately refer patients/providers to clinical areas for clarification on procedures. Update/Correct patient appointments as indicated by clinical modalities
  • Basic understanding of Insurance authorization process including, but not limited to: Which exams and payers require prior authorization. Utilize appropriate scheduling timeframes to allow for authorization to be obtained. Appropriately refer patients to Financial Counseling and Insurance Verification
  • Keep up to date with hospital and Optum policies and procedures You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

    Required Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
    • Basic computer skills
    • Ability to travel onsite for equipment assignment or as business needs dictate
    • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:30pm Mountain Standard Time Preferred Qualifications:
      • 1+ years of customer service experience
      • Basic understanding of medical terminology and anatomy
      • Experience in Hospital Revenue Cycle (Scheduling, Registration, Authorization, Billing, etc.)
      • Epic experience Telecommuting Requirements:
        • Remote within an 80-mile commutable distance to the office in Boulder, CO
        • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
        • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
        • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $16.00 - $31.44.
