We offer competitive compensation and benefits packages.About this role:We are seeking a Senior Building Performance Engineer/Analyst to join our Codes and Standards Team with a focus on energy codes compliance software development. You will be a member of the Sustainability Division of NORESCO and will execute projects with the Codes and Standards team members. The person selected to fill this position shall have deep knowledge of building science and energy codes (IECC and/or Title 24, Part 6.), energy-efficient technologies, energy modeling EnergyPlus (CBECC experience a plus), and be able to mentor junior staff in energy simulation software (development and validation) projects.As a Codes and Standards team member, you will have significant impact on the effort to decarbonize buildings in California and across the US.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct energy efficiency analyses using energy modeling software (EnergyPlus and CBECC) and applied techniques, cost-effectiveness analyses, and other analyses related to energy policy
  • Provide technical review of others, energy simulations or analysis and strategic guidance to others
  • Provide clear and well-written memorandums and reports to various clients (investor-owned utilities, state energy commissions, building owners, architects, engineers) regarding energy policy and other analyses
  • Ensure technical quality and accurate technical content of project-related documents and provide oversight and review of supporting staff
  • Meet and contact clients as appropriate to discuss methods, and present results and recommendations
  • Support business development efforts
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and tasks with minimal oversight
  • Less than 10% business travel -Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 10+ years of experience in Sustainable Engineering, or a Master's Degree in Engineering with 7+ years of experience in Sustainable EngineeringPreferred Qualifications:Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
      • Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Architectural, or related sustainability field
      • 10+ years of experience in Sustainable Engineering
      • Deep knowledge of Title 24, ASHRAE Standard 90.1, IECC, and other energy codes and standards
      • Expertise in complex building mechanical systems and state-of-the-art energy efficiency technologies and applications
      • Experience with developing and validating novel modeling approaches for new building technologies, strategies, and policy responses
      • Deep experience with EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, and eQuest energy modeling software; experience with CBECC-Com or CBECC-Res compliance software is a plus
      • Experience with large-scale simulations and data analysis/visualization, and the supporting technologies (Python/Ruby, Tableau/Pandas, AWS/Docker, DBMS flavors); familiarity with revision control systems (e.g. SourceForge, Git) and source code management a plus
      • Demonstrated ability to write technical reports, papers, and provide presentations to knowledgeable audiences
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills
